passed away on Saturday January 6th at 2am at Brighton Gardens Assisted Living in Bethesda, Maryland.   He was born in Birmingham, Alabama on August 4, 1929, the oldest of 3 children to Edward Mitchell Sr. and Iola Roberts Mitchell.  Edward graduated from Chester High School in Chester, Pennsylvania and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Vermont in 1970.   He worked for 36 years at General Electric Company before retiring in 1984.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Sr and Iola as well as by his wife Gwendolyn Mitchell.  He leaves behind a large family included his sister Rosena Rose, brother Alphonso Mitchell, his daughters Dr. Rosalind Mitchell, Dr Deborah Burton, his sons David Mitchell, Scott Mitchell, his grandchildren, Jasmine Burton and Courtney Burton and large number of nieces and nephews.
