SUNRISE:  January 19, 1941--- SUNSET:  January 6, 2018

Dianne Hatmaker was born January 19, 1941 to the late Cecil and Lillian Baker formerly of Rockville, Maryland.  She was the eighth of ten children and the youngest daughter. On September 9, 1958 she married the love of her life Bill Hatmaker.  Bill predeceased her on July 12, 1989.

Dianne and Bill raised 7 daughters and recognized the importance of a two-income family.  Dianne went to work for USDA in 1975 in an entry level of a grade of GS3.  She always expressed to her girls the importance of education and a career.  Dianne attended the University of Maryland College Park and received her degree at the age of 50.  She would take classes and stop to put one of her daughters through college.  In 1988 Dianne found herself in class with one of her daughters where she insisted she not be called mom but just by her name.  At the age of 60 she retired from the USDA as a Branch Chief to pursue a new career adventure with BASF in Raleigh, North Carolina.   At the age of 70 she retired the second time.  Former coworkers have expressed that her example as a mother, grandmother and a successful career woman influenced them to move forward with both career and education.

She was the mother of Toni (Scott) Fava, Ailanna (Ronnie) Collins, Yvonne (Eddie) Sweeney, Kimberly Hatmaker, Katherine Asadi and the late Renee Brown and Tami Towns; mother in law of Alan Brown; grandmother of Clinton, Alan "J.R.", Tyler, Shannon, Hannah, Abigail, Jacqueline, Katherine, Hayley (Alex), Jonathan, Adam, Arianna, Zachary, Yasmin, Nina and Cameron; great-grandmother of Carter Lee; Sister of Phyllis (Bill) Davis, Lorraine Gates, Julius (Audrey) Baker, Lionel "Lonnie" Baker; friend of Ann Conroy and Margaret Barrett. She will also be missed by many other nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers.

2 Corinthians 5:8, “We are confident, I say and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” KJV
