Genevieve Dent (maiden name: Genevieve Joseph), known to friends and family members as "Jenny", passed away on December 31, 2017, at the age of 67 years old.

Born in Trinidad on January 3, 1950, Jenny spent her formative years living in Maraval with her parents Augustine and Octavia, along with her 12 brothers and sisters. After attending Progressive High School, she went on to do clerical work at Neal and Massy while in Trinidad.  Eventually Jenny decided to travel abroad to the United States to embark on new experiences and opportunities. While in the States, Jenny received an Associates Degree from Prince Georges Community College and she worked various office clerical jobs while trying to find her niche in the job market.

Jenny married James A. Dent and had two children, Melanie and Jonathan. Jenny enjoyed traveling and spending time with family, especially her children. She enjoyed staying active, whether it was partaking in Zumba, yoga or just taking a walk. She also played a very active role in the activities her children were involved in; whether it was related to sports, education or other after school activities, she was always present and smiling. Throughout her life, Jenny’s faith is what kept her anchored and resilient.  Even in the face of adversity she always maintained a positive outlook.

Professionally, Jenny would eventually settle in the Federal Government workforce as a Management and Program Analyst, with the Department of Homeland Security. She held this position for over 20 years until she retired in 2017. While working within this position Jenny has received multiple Performance Awards for her dedicated work ethic and exceptional execution of duties.

Jenny is survived by her two children, Melanie Dent (35) and Jonathan Dent (34).
