Margaret Dulaney Biro (Peggy Du)

Our Beloved wife and mother Margaret Dulaney Biro (Peggy Du) passed away peacefully on February 14th, St. Valentine’s day.  Peggy was a lifelong Washingtonian. Born on July 1st, 1926, she grew up in East Washington Park and graduated from Immaculate Conception Academy in 1945.  Peggy worked for the Department of Education and Department of the Navy before marrying her husband Rudy following World War II on October 18, 1947.  They spent 69 ½ beautiful years together living and raising their family of five (one son and four daughters) in Alexandria, VA, Wheaton, MD and in Fulton, MD.

Peggy was a devoted wife, and loving mother of five, a homemaker who always put family first. She treasured Holiday gatherings, family road trips and big family reunions. She was the original Mom’s taxi encouraging all of her children to participate in sports, music lessons, dance classes, scout meetings and field trips.  She was an avid fan of music, movies and dancing and enjoyed antiquing and day trips to historic sites.  She was talented as a seamstress and loved to bake especially for birthdays and the holidays. Peggy had an unwavering faith in God, a blessing which she has passed to her husband and children. She was a devout Catholic her entire life as a member of St Francis Xavier, St. Catherine Laboure’ and for the past 45 years at St. Louis Parish in Clarksville, MD.

Peggy is survived by her husband Rudolph Paul Biro (Rudy), her son Richard (Mary) Biro of Annapolis, MD; three daughters and their husbands Margie (David) Young of Naples, FL; Joanie (Joe) Rosati of Solomon’s, MD; Donna (Jim) Beck of Mt Airy, MD; her two grandsons Andrew Biro of Richmond, VA and Richard Carlton Smallwood III (Sarah) of San Diego, CA; her brother Richard (Terry) of Bethany Beach Delaware.  She was predeceased by her daughter Barbara Ann (Biro) Smallwood, her parents Mary and George Dulaney, and twin brothers Paul and George Dulaney.

In lieu of flowers please call or hug a family member and make a donation to the Little Sisters of the Poor, or St. Jude’s Hospital for Children.
