Archie R. McGinthy

Archie Ruben McGinthy, 89, of Pflugerville, TX, passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at The Springs Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Park, TX.

Archie was born Monday, March 24, 1930 in Rector, AR, one of seven children born to the late Alford McGinthy and the late Clara Wilkins McGinthy.

He is survived by his three daughters, Donna Charlson of Myrtle Beach, SC, Barbara Whitlow of Butner, NC, and Dawn Linton of Port Deposit, MD; two sons, Timothy Grady of Walnutport, PA and Anthony McGinthy of Pflugerville, TX; one brother, Tommy McGinthy of Lebanon, IL; sixteen grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Carole McGinthy; his son, Robert McGinthy; his brother Alford McGinthy Jr.; his four sisters, Bonita Parsons, Sarah Parks, Fleta Slavik, and Julia Wheaton; his daughter Robyn Murray; and his grandson, Shawn Daugherty.

Archie served in the U.S. Army Air Corps and then the U.S. Air Force. He was stationed at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. and upon his honorable discharge in 1950, he made Washington, D.C. his home. After his time in the Air Force, Archie worked for Ottenberg’s Bakery in Washington, D.C. until his retirement in 1992. He was a doting husband and a caring father. He worked hard every day of his life to provide for his family and ensure that his children had the opportunity to prosper in life. His greatest joys were seeing his children and grandchildren grow and having the opportunity to bestow his love and affection upon them.

The family will receive friends at the Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home, 4400 Powder
Mill Rd, Beltsville, MD 20705, on Wednesday, October 23, 2019 from 4 to 7 PM.

Interment will be Thursday, October 24, 2019 in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro, DE.
