Deanna Joyce Middleton

Deanna Joyce Middleton, age 79, passed away on August 31, 2019 at her home in Beltsville, Maryland after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, John F. Middleton, Jr.; her mother, Eva Warner Koontz; her children, John C. (Janet) Middleton, and Pamela (William) Garton; her grandchildren, Amanda, Bradley, John Michael, Jason Christopher, and Cody; and her brother, William Warner.

Deanna was born on July 7, 1940 to Eva and William Warner and grew up in Keymar, Maryland. She attended Elmer Wolfe High School and then Frostburg State University where she earned a degree in education and met her future husband, John. Deanna and John wed in 1962 and settled in Hyattsville, Maryland where they remained for 27 years and raised their children, Jay and Pam. Prior to the birth of her children, Deanna was an elementary school teacher in Mt. Rainier. When her children were school age, she returned to the workforce, first at Kiplinger Editors Press, and later at the U.S. Postal Service headquarters in DC where John was already employed. For about 10 years, they happily carpooled to work and ate lunch together. She enjoyed weekends and vacation time with family at the beach or their cabin in the mountains of Pennsylvania. When the grandkids came along, Deanna was deeply involved. She loved spending time with them and cheering them on at every school and sporting event she could attend. After retirement in 2000, Deanna wintered with John at their Florida residence where she enjoyed yoga, kayaking, and reading with her book club friends. Her love, laughter, and kindness will be forever missed by all who knew her.
