Olive K. Lazzari

1935-2018

            Beloved wife of the late Arthur Lazzari, Olive died on what would have been their 53rd wedding anniversary, August 28, 2018.  She was born in Moncton, New Brunswick, Canada, on March 11, 1935.  She emigrated with her parents and 3 sisters to Washington, D.C. in 1956, where she met Arthur, the love of her life; they were married in 1965.  They settled in Adelphi, Maryland.  Olive worked for the Bakery, Confectionery and Tobacco Workers’ Union as an auditor for over 30 years before retiring in 1988.  She became an American citizen in 1991.  Olive loved to travel, visiting the Bahamas, Switzerland, France, Scotland and Ireland.  She also made many trips back to Canada and to Florida to visit family.  She was an outstanding cook, and enjoyed doing embroidery, making Christmas ornaments, and other arts and crafts.  She was an inveterate shopper, famous for having all of her Christmas shopping done by June every year.  Her generosity was legendary.

            She is survived by her sisters Patricia (Roscoe) Reeves, Sylvia Fogan, and Darlene Fogan, niece Catharine Reeves (Steve Alexander), nephew Jonathan (Dawn) Reeves, stepdaughters Pamela Fisher and Patricia (Roy) Purdy-Mahler, grandchildren Amy (Stephen) Loupin, David Fisher Jr., and Matthew Fisher, 2 great-nephews and 4 great-grandchildren, and many, many friends.  A celebration of life will be held at Borgwardt Funeral Home, 4400 Powder Mill Rd., Beltsville, MD, on October 13, 2018, at 2 PM.  Donations may be made in her memory to the American Cancer Society.  Interment at a later date will be private.
