Arthur Rosenberg

Lieutenant Colonel (Ret.) Arthur Rosenberg, PhD. passed away on June 16, 2026 at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, MD at the age of 81 years. Dr. Rosenberg is survived by his identical twin brother Steven Rosenberg (81), of Waltham, MA; his son Alan Jay Rosenberg (46) of Baltimore, MD; his daughter Jerry Rosenberg (44) of Conshohocken, PA; his granddaughter Sidney Harlow Rosenberg (7); and Princess, the latest in a long line of beloved cats. 

Dr. Rosenberg was born and raised in Waltham, MA by his mother Sophie Rosenberg (nee Sherman) and his father Robert Rosenberg. He earned his Bachelors and Master's Degrees at Northeastern University, and his Doctorate in Microbiology from the University of New Hampshire. He served in the United States Army throughout most of his adult life, earning the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Dr. Rosenberg worked as a Medical Technologist and Pathologist at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center, as well as running the Blood Donor Center for many years. 

He was an accomplished competitive runner, who participated in and attended numerous track and field competitions throughout his life, including multiple marathons. He traveled the world, to attend Olympic Games and World Track and Field Championships, as well as just to see the world’s most fascinating and historical places, usually returning with souvenirs to decorate his apartment and to share with his family. He enjoyed classical art, history, music, golf, and was an avid reader. His family and friends will never forget his intelligence, wit, generosity, love for exploration, and gift for storytelling.
