Betty Carolyn Soper

November 26, 1943 — December 15, 2025

With deep sadness on the afternoon of December 15, 2025, Betty Carolyn Soper went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior held in the loving arms of her husband of 64 years, David, exactly where she belonged.

Carolyn was the heart of her family. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother lovingly known as “Grandmama,” and a proud great-grandmother. She loved her family with all her heart and was deeply loved in return. While she cherished her roles as wife, mother and grandmother, becoming a great-grandmother brought a special spark to her life. Her great-grandchildren, Memphis, Maverick and Maddox were her ultimate pride and joy, filling her days with laughter and light.

To her husband and family, Carolyn was affectionately known as “Wonder Woman.” And she truly was. In her younger years, she not only helped run the family business but also lovingly cared for her five grandchildren several times a week, all while making it look effortless. Carolyn was the voice of the family electrical business, Colesville Electric, greeting customers with warmth and competence that made everyone feel taken care of. Her strength, work ethic, and grace were unmatched.

To all who knew her, Carolyn was a very special woman, truly one of a kind. Her smile could light up a room, and her presence brought warmth and comfort. She had a remarkable, almost magical ability to innocently turn any bad citation (she never got a traffic ticket) or situation in her favor, usually leaving others smiling and laughing right along with her.

In her earlier years, Carolyn embraced life with energy, fun, joy and sense of adventure. She found thrill in drag racing and, with a heavy foot on the gas pedal, earned the nickname “Green Streak.” She enjoyed spending her weekends speed boating on the Chesapeake Bay aboard their Hustler speed boat. She and David were a sight to behold on the dance floor; whether square dancing or performing the jitterbug "like no other," they moved through life in perfect sync. Those memories speak to the fun-loving, spirited woman she always was.

Christmas held a special place in Carolyn’s heart. It was her favorite holiday, and she was affectionately known as “Christmas Carol,” bringing warmth, love, and joy to the season. She was a passionate collector of all things Christmas and built an extensive and beloved collection reflecting her love for beauty, tradition and joy.

Carolyn is survived by her beloved husband, David Soper; her daughter, Sherri (Bruce) Zobrisky; her son, Dave (Katy) Soper; grandchildren Amy (Jeremy) Naill, James (Briana) Zobrisky, Matthew Zobrisky, Kaylynn (Caleb) Maddux, and Tyler Soper; and her treasured great-grandchildren Memphis, Maverick, and Maddox Naill. She is also survived by her brother, Leon (Judy) Jones.

Carolyn was a woman of deep faith and even deeper kindness. Though she will be profoundly missed, her spirit lives on in the family she cherished and the traditions she created. She was deeply loved, and her strength, laughter, and unwavering presence will be deeply missed and forever remembered in our hearts.
