hombre admirable, generoso y profundamente humano.

el camino y nada más;

caminante, no hay camino,

se hace camino al andar.

Al andar se hace camino,

y al volver la vista atrás

se ve la senda que nunca

se ha de volver a pisar.

Caminante, no hay camino,

sino estelas en la mar.”

— Antonio Machado

Descansá en paz, Carlos. Tu camino permanece en todos nosotros.

There are men that simply pass through life, and men that leave roots.

Carlos Quiroa Sr. was a man that left roots.

He left us on May 10, 2026, at the age of 72, leaving behind a life built with

character, deep convictions and a sensitivity that he never needed to disguise.

He was a man of a firm word and an immense heart; of free thinking,

unforgettable conversation and inexhaustible love for

his people, his children and his homeland.

He loved El Salvador with the intensity of someone who never stopped carrying

it inside his heart. He defended his ideals with courage, always believing in

human dignity, justice and the courage to reach out to others even in the most

difficult times.

For 47 years, he walked the path of life with his wife, Zoila Q., in a story marked

by loyalty, and true love. His children were his deepest pride, and in them he

left sown his strength, his intelligence and his passionate way of understanding

life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ofelia Quiroa, and by his son,

Carlos A. Quiroa.

He is survived by his wife Zoila Q.; his brother Julio Castro; his children Alex

Quiroa (KerriMiller) and Víctor Quiroa (Marisa Quiroa); his grandchildren Diana,

Jolie, Logan, Leonel, Mikheila and Shannon; his nieces Nancy and Cindy, his

nephew Fabricio, as well as family and friends in Canada and El Salvador who

today say goodbye to an admirable, generous and deeply human man.

Carlos leaves a legacy impossible to measure: that of having lived with

authenticity, having loved without reservation and having inspired respect

without ever asking for it. The family will organize a service in his memory at a

later date and requests that instead of flowers they can donate to the library of

their choice.

"Traveler, your footprints are the path and nothing else;

Traveler, there is no path,

The path is made by walking it

By walking it, the path is made,

And when looking back

You can see the path that never

Will be walked again.

Traveler, there is no path

But the wakes in the sea.”

— Antonio Machado

Rest in peace, Carlos. Your path remains in all of us.
