Chris Thomas Fontaine

Chris Thomas Fontaine, 69, of North Beach, Maryland, passed away unexpectedly in his home on Monday, July 6, 2026. Born August 20, 1956 in Providence Hospital in Washington, DC, to Robert and Kathleen Fontaine of Riverdale, Maryland, he was the fifth of nine children. He attended St. Bernard’s Catholic School in Riverdale, Maryland and was a 1974 graduate of Bladensburg High School. Early in his career, he worked in printing at Erco and Singer Simulation. After apprenticing with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), he went on to become a respected electrician working for Dynaelectric, Paul Resnick, Inc., Fuel Tech, Inc., and Petro Supply, Inc. In addition, Chris completed coursework with honors at the Technical Education Center, earning a certificate in Computer Electronics Technology.

Chris loved his adopted hometown of North Beach, Maryland. He spent many hours walking on the boardwalk, biking the trails, and photographing beautiful sunrises and sunsets. A life-long member of the Catholic Church, Chris often attended daily Mass at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in North Beach. He was known and loved in town by many of the local shop owners and his neighbors.

Chris was preceded in death by his parents, his older sister Patricia (Paul, deceased) Fitzgerald, his younger brother Michael (Diana) Fontaine and his niece, Julia Wassmann. His memory will be cherished by his loving siblings and family: Paul (Deborah) Fontaine, Mary (Robert) Wassmann, Barbara (Wayne) Smith, Ralph Fontaine, Teresa (Thomas) Wurster, and Stephen (Lisa) Fontaine, and his sister-in-law, Jeannette Fontaine. He will also be greatly missed by his 23 nieces and nephews, as well as their spouses, and his many great-nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are welcome to attend the Funeral Mass, which will take place on August 20, 2026, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church, 4902 Berwyn Road, College Park, Maryland. (TIME TO BE ANNOUNCED AFTER CONFIRMATION) Visitation will occur one hour before the Funeral Mass begins. Lunch and fellowship will follow the service at Holy Redeemer. Burial will be private.

Memorial donations may be made on Chris’s behalf to the Wounded Warrior Project, at 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, Florida, 32256.
