It is with deep sorrow and great love that we mourn the passing of Dorothy Palma.
Dorothy passed peacefully in her sleep on March 1, 2026, at the age of 90, in Silver Spring, Maryland.
Born on July 8, 1935 in Boali, Kaliganj, Bangladesh, Dorothy was the fourth child of
Thomas and Benadi Gomes.
In 1951, she married the late Paul Palma, and together they built a life rooted in devotion and family,
raising two sons and four daughters with unwavering love.
Dorothy was known for her boundless generosity, selflessness, and unconditional love. She instilled these
values in her children and grandchildren, creating a legacy of strong family bonds. She had a remarkable
memory—if she met you once, she remembered you always and welcomed you as her own.
Her joys were simple and sincere: spending time in the kitchen, strolling through the neighborhood, chatting
with friends old and new, sewing blankets for loved ones, cutting the first slice of cake at any occasion, and
savoring tangy dishes or a strawberry Melona ice cream bar. Her family will forever remember the joy of her
90th birthday party, when she danced among them despite her struggle to walk, reminding everyone that her
spirit was stronger than any limitation.
Dorothy’s life was shaped by her deep and abiding faith in God as she lived her life walking in the Lord’s
footsteps. The gentle strength of God’s grace guided her throughout her life and sustained her lovingly through
her final moments.
Dorothy will be dearly missed and forever cherished by her children and their spouses; grandchildren and their
spouses; great‑grandchildren; and 3 of her siblings and their children. She was preceded in death by her
beloved husband, parents, son-in-law, and 9 of her siblings.
