She passed quietly at the Arcola Health and Rehabilitation Center on April 1, 2015, after a long illness with dementia. She was born on August 10, 1921 in Halifax, Virginia, the oldest of eight children. She is together with her late husband, Clyde Allen. She is survived by her son, Erwin Allen; daughter-in-law, Karen Allen; grandson, Benjamin Allen, as well as two sisters (Pauline and Mary), a sister-in-law (Aunt Serita), AND many nephews and nieces, including a few cousins.
