Heloise J. Shyman

We would like to announce the passing of Heloise J. Shyman, better known to friends and family as Elly, July 6, 2026. Her peaceful natural passing was on the heels of a recent celebration of her 97 th birthday at her residence apartment in Country Meadows in Frederick, MD.

She is survived by her three children, Carol (& Stephen), William (& Kim) and Steven (& Chinh); grandchildren Patrick (partner Marci), Viviane, Brooks (& Jamie), Cung, Sam and Victor as well as 3 great grandchildren.

‘Happy soul’ was one term used to describe this housewife (predeceased husband Carl) and mother. She was a first generation born in the USA with roots in Ukraine which would explain why she was considered the epitome of the ‘American grandmother’. ‘Sincere smiles’ and ‘confidant’ to all who knew her.

Even to those she had just met in an elevator. ‘Fun and spirited’ as she was very social in her activities: bridge, golf and the sisterhood of Temple Shalom. She was a good Jewish mama: Elly was the kind of person who would tell you to lose weight and turn around and ask if you wanted French toast or pancakes for breakfast.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Frederick Health Hospice or to Country Meadows earmarked for the Alzheimer’s Association’s fundraiser.
