Beltsville

Karen passed at home with residing loving family members on Saturday, April 13, 2024 after a long illness with Parkinson’s Disease. Karen was able to stay at home with the exceptional care of Karen Daniels, a CNA, and family members during the three year and three month ordeal.

Karen was born on July 22, 1945 in Takoma Park, Maryland to Joseph and Anna Schwarz, who had 7 children. Karen moved and grew up with her family in a house in Southeast, Washington D.C. She attended and graduated from St. Francis Xavier School and Notre Dame High School, both Catholic institutions, located in Washington D.C. Later, Karen took courses periodically at the University of Maryland while she worked various jobs as a legislative assistant on Capitol Hill, an assistant to the lobbyist Jim Free at Walker Associates and numerous other jobs, before retiring as a Deputy Clerk to the Arlington School Board.

Karen Married Erwin Allen on May 2, 1981 at Our Lady Queen of Peace in Arlington, Virginia. Benjamin Joseph Allen was born in Virginia and the family moved to a home in Prince Georges County. Karen loved her family. She was a devoted wife and a wonderful mother. She leaves behind a husband, a son, five siblings, many nieces and nephews as well as grand- nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Finally, we ask that any donations given be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation.
