Honoring the Life of
Kathleen Quashie Thomas
Our dearly beloved Kathleen Quashie Thomas, age 81, of Adelphi, Maryland, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, following a long illness.
Kathleen was born on December 17, 1944, in Trinidad and Tobago to Frederick Quashie and Evelyn Cupid Quashie. She was one of seven siblings and was deeply rooted in the love, strength, and bonds of family.
After graduating from high school, Kathleen began her professional career at a manufacturing firm in Trinidad. In 1969, she migrated to the United States, where she earned her credentials as a Clinical Nursing Assistant. Determined to pursue her long-term aspirations, she continued her education, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Business Administration from Prince George’s Community College, followed by a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Columbia Union College.
Kathleen went on to build a long and fulfilling career in banking, serving in a variety of front-office and customer service roles. Even in retirement, her energy and dedication remained unwavering, and she spent her final working years as a Customer Service Manager at a hardware store.
In 1971, Kathleen married Winston Thomas. Though their marriage later ended amicably, they shared many meaningful years together.
Kathleen found great joy in traveling, celebrating life’s special milestones with family and friends, and preparing delicious home-cooked meals. She will be fondly remembered for her warm and welcoming smile, her caring and congenial spirit, and her generosity that touched so many lives.
A devoted family member, Kathleen deeply cherished her relationships with loved ones and many dear friends. She leaves to mourn her siblings, Carmeta and Maude Quashie; her niece, Glenda Quashie; her nephews, Glenroy, Fitzy, Nigel, Chester, and Renwick Quashie; Dr. Lystra Wilson Celestine; and her devoted grandnephew, Chris Quashie. She also leaves a host of extended family and friends in her beloved homeland of Trinidad and Tobago.
She was preceded in death by her beloved siblings: Joyce, Ramah, Agatha, Tommy, and Beatrice.
Kathleen’s Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home. The wake will begin at 10:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m.
All whose lives were touched by Kathleen are warmly invited to attend as we gather to honor her memory, celebrate her life, and cherish the legacy of love she leaves behind.
