Lillian Hearl (née Bruno) passed away peacefully at the Riderwood Senior Living

Community on August 24, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100.

Born February 3, 1926, in Brooklyn, New York, Lillian was the cherished daughter of

Frank (Nunzio) Bruno and Elizabeth Bruno (née Manzione). Growing up with a sharp

eye for detail and a gift for creativity, she became an expert seamstress. Her

exceptional talent led her to a position at Bonwit Teller, the iconic luxury clothing store

on Fifth Avenue in New York City, where she took great pride in her craft.

In 1951, Lillian married the love of her life, Thomas Hearl. Together, they shared a

beautiful journey of marriage and devotion, eventually settling in Maryland. Lillian spent

most of her life in Rockville and Silver Spring, where she created a warm, welcoming

home and dedicated herself to raising her family. A woman of deep and enduring faith,

she lived her life as a devout Catholic, finding strength, community, and comfort in her

beliefs.

Lillian’s legacy lives on through the generations she adored, the beautiful memories she

created, and the quiet elegance she brought into the world.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Frank and Elizabeth Bruno; her

devoted husband, Thomas, and her cherished son, William.

She is survived by her loving son, Frank Hearl, and his wife, Teresa (née Powers); and

her daughter-in-law, Maureen Hearl (née Cranston). Lillian was the incredibly proud

grandmother of Christopher (CJ) Hearl, Tom Hearl, Kathleen Couillard (née Hearl),

Heidi Lucas (née Hearl), and Renee Rieke (née Hearl). She is also survived by 10

adored great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved

dearly.

At her request, Lillian will be laid to rest beside her husband, Thomas, at the Gate of

Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, Maryland, in a private ceremony with local family.
