Lucia (Lore) Macaluso

Lucia Macaluso cherished wife, mother, and grandmother passed away unexpectedly at 76 years of age on Monday May 20th. She is preceded in death by her brothers Michele and Domenico. She is survived by her devoted husband Geatano, her three children Patrizia, Melinda, and Anthony, future daughter-in-law CJ, and her two grandchildren Makayla and Tyler and her sisters Angela and Maria and brother Lorenzo sister in laws Rosa, Giuseppina and Maria Antonia and her many nieces and nephews.

Lucia, the second youngest of six children, was born in Polizzi Generosa, Sicily and immigrated to the United States at age 16. When she first arrived in America, she worked as a ceramist creating decorative lamps. After completing beauty school and becoming an established beautician, she was introduced by a family member to her husband Gaetano through long distance. Gaetano and Lucia exchanged pictures and letters for a short time before they married in Petraila Sottana Sicily on August 26th, 1971. The pair moved to Washington DC; together they worked and grew their family having three children.

Lucia enjoyed spending her free time cooking, gardening and listening to music. She showed her love and compassion for others with her homemade Italian cooking. Lucia's infectious smile, warm heart, and dedication to her family were unmatchable. Lucia will be truly missed by all and though her absence will be felt, her presence will never be forgotten. She will always be in our hearts.
