“A praying mother is a treasure beyond measure.”
Mildred Millicent Heslop, born Mildred Millicent Miller on June 13, 1931, in Little Kent, St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies, was that treasure. She was a woman of deep faith, quiet fire, and unwavering love. Morning and night, day after day, Mildred faithfully prayed for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Their lives stand as living evidence that they were always covered, guided, and protected by the prayers of a devoted mother and grandmother.
Mildred was a resilient and formidable woman who overcame much and gave endlessly to those she loved. She was the proud mother of seven children, including two sets of twins, a reflection of the fullness, strength, and joy that defined the home she built. She raised her children with devotion, wisdom, discipline, and sacrifice, instilling values that continue to live on through generations.
On May 8, 1965, Mildred married Hugh Heslop. Together they built a life grounded in partnership, perseverance, and deep family commitment. Hugh preceded her in death on June 27, 2002, and Mildred carried his memory with enduring love and honor.
Many years ago, Mildred accepted Christ into her life, and her faith became the foundation of her daily walk. She was known as a fervent prayer warrior, faithfully lifting her family in prayer every single day. Her faith was not only spoken but lived through her compassion, patience, strength, and steady presence.
Mildred was blessed with 20 grandchildren, each dearly loved and prayed over. Two grandchildren preceded her in death and were forever held in her heart. She was also the proud great grandmother of many great grandchildren, each one another extension of the legacy she built through love and faith.
Mildred leaves behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, faith, and family. Her prayers were powerful, her love was constant, and her life will continue to speak through the generations that follow.
Mildred is survived by her children Dianne, Michelle, Carol, Donna, Yolanda Denise, Wayne, and Wayde, her sons in law and daughters in law, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
