Cookie would strike up a conversation with everyone she met and talk with them like they were old friends. Her bubbly personality and engaging smile was accentuated by natural blonde hair
which made her stand out wherever she was.
Naomi Ruth Maxfield was born on August 4, 1952. She spent her childhood years growing up on her grandmother’s farm in Carroll County. After relocating to Silver Spring, she graduated from Springbrook High School in 1970. During the early 70’s she attended Montgomery College and then worked for Giant Food as a Deli and Front End Manager. After getting married and raising two boys throughout their grade school years she enrolled in Prince George’s Community College’s Nursing Program. She earned her Associate of Science Nursing Degree, graduating with High Honors in December of 1995. For the next 2 years she worked in an outpatient endoscopy center and then accepted a position with Prince George’s County School System as a nurse. Over the next 21 years Nurse Cookie first worked at Deerfield Run, then Vansville and lastly at Hollywood Elementary until her retirement in 2019. Not only did she have a caring and healing hand, she excelled at organization and had an eye for beauty and detail.
On Friday, March 25th, Cookie tragically lost her 14 month battle with lung cancer. She is survived by her husband Paul, son Brian and his wife Kimberly, numerous loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and her two little dogs Punk’n and Gunnar. She is now reunited in Heaven with her son, Julian.
Not only was she beautiful outside, she was even more beautiful inside, and her spirit genuine and real. Truly a selfless person she will be missed more than words can express.
