Phyllis L. Voigt, née Stewart, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 24, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on May 24, 1938, in Washington, DC, Phyllis lived a life rooted in warmth, simplicity, and connection with others. She was someone who loved the simple things in life, and that spirit was reflected in the way she spent her days and in the joy she found in everyday moments. She enjoyed dancing, music, and being around people, and those who knew her will remember the easy happiness she brought to gatherings and the comfort of her presence.
Phyllis worked as a crossing guard for the Prince George's County, Maryland public school system, serving her community with care and dedication. Her work placed her in the lives of countless children and families, and it suited the kind and steady nature for which she will be remembered.
She was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Ray Coker, who died in 2025, her husband, Millard E. Voigt Sr., who died in 1993; her son, Michael Voigt, who died in 1980; and her parents, Albert and Elva Stewart.
Phyllis leaves behind a family who will carry her memory forward with love. She is survived by her son, Millard E. Voigt, Jr., her daughter-in-law, Jackie, her twin grandsons, Millard (Kayla) Voigt and Thomas Voigt, whose place in her family brought special joy.
Phyllis will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort to family and friends, and may the happiness she found in music, dancing, and the company of others continue to be remembered and cherished.
