Roger Lee Phillips, born on July 1, 1948, in Washington, DC, peacefully passed away on July 3, 2025, at his home. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, known for his unwavering dedication to his family and his profession.

Roger enjoyed a long and successful career, beginning with his education at High Point High School, where he earned his diploma in 1967. Following his schooling, he embarked on a distinguished career at Western Electric and later at Avaya Lucent Technology (formerly AT&T), where he dedicated 30 years of service before retiring at the age of 52. After retirement, Roger continued to share his passion for firearms and safety as a Range Officer at a private club, where he was appreciated for his extensive knowledge and calm demeanor.

He was married to his beloved wife, Judith Phillips, for an incredible 52 years. Together, they built a life full of love and cherished memories. Roger was the loving father of Tracy Phillips, who married Leonard Bridgett. He took great pride in being a grandfather to Brielle Hayden and Leonard Joseph, who meant the world to him.

In addition to his immediate family, Roger was the son of William Roberts and was a supportive brother to Connie (Gary) Kelsey and Ronald (Annette) Roberts. His family also included brother-in-law, Steve (Judy) O'Neil, sister-in-law, Ruth (Bob) Ayres, and many nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember Roger for his kindness and generosity.

He was predeceased by his mother, Dorothy Roberts; biological father, H. Lamar Phillips; brother, Ricky Phillips; mother-in-law, Vivian Jean O'Neil; father-in-law, Ralph E. O'Neil; and sister-in-law, Jean F. O'Neil. Each of these individuals played a significant role in his life, and he carried their memories with him always.

Roger's legacy of love, commitment, and work ethic will endure in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the impact he had on those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A memorial service will be held at Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home, P.A., located at 4400 Powder Mill Rd, Beltsville, MD 20705 on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at 12:00 PM. It is an opportunity for family and friends to gather and honor the remarkable life of Roger Lee Phillips.
