Shirley Yeatts

Shirley Hundley Yeatts of Odenton, MD passed away peacefully on November 22, 2025, her 88 birthday, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 22, 1937, in Martinsville, VA to the late John Melvin Hundley and Martha Jane Hundley. She met and married her husband Lillard Conroy Yeatts in Martinsville. They moved to Baltimore, MD and then to the Washington, DC area to start a family.

Shirley began her career in early childhood development and later transitioned into a position with the Prince Georges County school system, where she retired. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Beltsville, MD, where until recently, she was actively involved in the church community.

An avid gardener, Shirley took great pleasure in caring for her flowers and spending time outdoors. She cherished every moment with her grandchildren and found joy in being surrounded by family and friends.

She is predeceased by her husband Lillard C. Yeatts; her brother Luther Hundley; and sisters Barbara Reed and Pansy Lykins.
She is survived by a son, Les Yeatts and his wife Barbara Melvin of Lewes, DE; a daughter Joan Mougey and her husband Alan of Woodbine, MD; a son, Dan Yeatts and his wife Jennifer of Severna Park, MD, and five beloved grandchildren Christina Mougey, Zachary Mougey, Brian Yeatts, Kathryn Yeatts, and Rachel Yeatts. Shirley also leaves behind her beloved nieces and nephews: Mark, Kelli, Daryl, Robin, Rhonda, and Jeff.
