Tom was born in Washington DC, the son of Fred and Katherine (Bristow) Sumpter. He grew up in Arlington, VA. He always had a keen interest in what made things work, and would take things apart to find the answers. He was an avid hunter, NASCAR enthusiast, and Redskins fan. After he retired in 2012, we decided to enjoy our retirement so a cruise to Alaska, a new RV and time to do all the things we wanted to do.
Tom loved to watch TV and especially "The Walking Dead", he read, loved country music and tried his hand at building things. In fact we were about half way finished the second half of the rec room when he passed on.
He is survived by his wife, Beverley, a brother, Richard in Vienna, VA and numerous friends.
