William “Bill” M. Manico, born on November 2, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, was peacefully called to heaven on November 8, 2025, from the respite of his longtime home in Maryland, as the result of natural causes. He was the beloved father of Andi Galvin-Manico; the caring brother of Jane Butler, Owen Manico, and the late Richard Manico; the devoted partner of Julie Patterson; and the loyal keeper of Noah Waldron. Bill was the proud son of a 2nd generation immigrant, the now deceased Helen McCaffrey and William Manico. While his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends remember Bill dearly here on earth, he has been welcomed into heaven by the loving arms of many friends and family members.
In 1974, Bill graduated Magna Cum Laude from New York’s Chaminade High School and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree from The Catholic University of America in 1978. Bill also earned the degree of Juris Doctor from the Columbus School of Law at Catholic University in 1983. Impressively, Bill’s education was substantially funded through his work as a bicycle newspaper delivery boy, lifeguard, and an exceptionally gifted pianist and organist. His love and talent for music even led him to a career playing organ at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Brookland, D.C., and as an organist and choirmaster at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Annandale, Virginia.
Bill’s long and distinguished legal career began in 1985, when he was appointed a prosecutor for the State’s Attorney’s Office in Prince George’s County, Maryland. He served for more than 15 years as a state prosecutor, rose to the rank of Chief of Homicide, maintained an exceptional win/loss record in court, and worked on many high profile cases. Bill eventually retired from the prosecutor's stand and worked as a Civil Litigator for Prince George’s County until 2005. He held his final post as an Administrative Law Judge with the United States Social Security Administration, serving with distinction for 20 years.
Bill dedicated his life to the pursuit of justice and to the safekeeping of all human lives. Through our grief, we his successors must do all we can to inherit his rectitude, wisdom, and compassion. On January 12, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., Bill will be honored with a memorial Mass at his longtime parish, St. Hugh of Grenoble Church, located at 135 Crescent Avenue, Greenbelt, MD 20770. Friends and family are cordially invited.
