Ann Weatherford Obituary

Born Ann Margaret Meyer to Victor Patrick and Margaret Bernadette Meyer (nee Troy) on July 5, 1935. Ann called Washington, D.C. home thought childhood and teenage years. After high school, she attended Dunbarton College and Washington School for Secretaries.

During the 1950s, Ann met the man who would became the love of her life, James Weatherford. They married on May 4, 1957. After just less than a year living in Northwest park Apartments, Ann and James purchased the only home they ever owned in 1959 in College Park, Maryland. They remained married and in the same house until James passed away on April 6, 2011. The union proved to be a lasting one which produced five children; Cecilia. Stephen, Margaret, Victor, and Cynthia. And it was not just children. The family had variety of pets over the years such as multiple dogs, cats, tropical fish, hamsters, turtles, rabbits, and even a ferret and a snake. It was a very busy and interesting household!

Ann was a mother of many talents. She was involved in the activities of her children participating in Boy and Girl Scouts, the College Park Boys and Girls Club, and various school functions. In between all the running to and from with her children. Ann was employed at Prince George’s Properties in the 1960s and Advertising Distributers of Washington from 1973 until her retirement in 2008.

Ann enjoyed many hobbies. Her favorite pastimes were reading, crossword puzzles, bowling, sitting on the front porch conversing with neighbors after dinner, and at the top of the list, BINGO! Ann also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! However, she was not hesitant to learn or experience something new as she found enjoyment sailing on cruise ships and taking rides on jet skis. She also found that she liked playing cards. She very much looked forward to weekly card games she and James had with their in-laws, Addie and Al. These games became legendary and the practice endured for years.

Despite all the different things going on in her life, she always found time to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Ann looked forward to each and every gathering with Christmas Eve being the most looked forward to event. The family would gather, good food and drink enjoyed, and evening punctuated with a visit from the volunteers from Branchville Volunteer Fire Co 11, The family gatherings started with the very first Christmas in their home and the Branchville visits started in the early 1980s and lasted for 34 years and were enjoyed by all with the members ultimately becoming a second family.

In the summer of 2017, Ann took the bold move of selling her home and moving from the only area she ever knew to St. Augustine, Florida. The move was made easier as her daughter Maggie and her husband Charles also lived in St. Augustine and were instrumental in making her feel at home and settling into Florida life. After a couple of years in a condo, Ann moved into assisted living facility, the Palms, where she found others enjoying some of the same things she did, bingo and cards, and having access to an on-site ice cream parlor. Ann remained at the Palms until contracting RSV and pneumonia and passing away on the 86th birthday, July 5, 2021.

Ann was a very loving and caring mother and grandmother, a person who always found time for everyone in her life. Ann is survived by her sister Louise, children Stephen, Margaret, Victor, and Cynthia; daughter-in-laws Teresa and Colleen, son-in-laws Charles and Mark, grandchildren Keith and his wife Diana, Kris and his wife Reanna, Stacey and her husband Auggie, Joey and his wife Maranda, Sean and his wife Jackie, Martin and Matthew, along with great-grandchildren Jeffery, William, Kyleigh, James, Addeline, Grace and Audrey.

Ann was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years James and daughter Cecilia.

She will always be loved and forever missed!
