Born on January 20, 1941, in Washington, DC, the daughter of the late John O’Connell and Catherine Reilly, she is survived by her devoted husband of 32+ years, Edmund Beyma, daughter, Patricia Regan (Timothy) of Potomac, Maryland, son, James Williard (Angela) of Selma, Alabama, brother John O’Connell of St. Petersburg, Florida, grandchildren Kelly Regan, Ashley and Anna Williard, step-children Carl Beyma, Meg Asher, and Eric Murchie-Beyma, and nine step-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brother James O’Connell (Linda), who was a retired Captain in the Montgomery County, Maryland Police Department and her sister Marianne Hull (John) who was active as an historical interpreter in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia.
She was known as Betsy by family and friends and graduated from Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School in Washington, DC and attended Georgetown University. Betsy became active in the Republican Party which led to employment in the White House for a number of years. This was followed by employment as a branch chief in the Federal Trade Commission. At this time she and her children lived in Montgomery Village, Maryland.
After Betsy and Ed were married, they lived and worked in Morgantown, West Virginia for the U. S. Department of Energy. Additional moves were made back to Montgomery Village, Maryland, and Pawleys Island, South Carolina where they retired to play golf, sit on the beach, and travel. Recently, to be near family, they called Silver Spring, Maryland home.
