Ellie Grabnegger

Eleanor Ardene Grabnegger, age 97, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020.

Eleanor was raised in the Pittsburgh, PA area and attended the Robert Morris School of Business directly out of high school.   She worked most of her career at Montgomery County Education Association as their office manager and then with the Montgomery County Public Schools.

Eleanor’s passion and delight was Swing Dancing. You could always count on seeing a beautiful big smile on her face as she danced. Washington Football was her team and old cowboy movies her entertainment. For many years leading up to her passing, quilting replaced dancing. Creating quilts provided her with great satisfaction. The FCE Blanket Project distributed her quilts to children and the disabled in shelters and hospitals. For more than 10 years, Eleanor was also active with Meals on Wheels. She was a member of St. Catherine Laboure Catholic Church for more than 40 years and, after retirement, was active in their Leisure Club.

Eleanor is predeceased by her eldest son and is survived by four children, five grandchildren and one great grandchild.  Eleanor’s middle daughter cared for her for which the family gives their greatest and warmest gratitude.

The immediate family will have a private ceremony.
