On Saturday, September 16, 2023, Robert Allen (Bob) Unkle passed away at age 89 in Beltsville, Maryland. He was born on April 7, 1934 in Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his parents James S. Unkle and Marjorie Unkle (Sigler), He proudly served in the United States Army for 3 years. He worked for Warner Plumbing and went on to open his own company, Unkle Plumbing Service, where he worked until he retired at age 73. He was hardworking and a perfectionist at his craft. He was a long time resident of Beltsville, MD and was a parishoner of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Beltsville. He enjoyed going to the beach with his loving wife and fishing with his family. More than anything he loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Anne M. Unkle; his 3 children: Karla Unkle (Dwyer), Laura Unkle (DeGrouchy), and Robert Allen Unkle, Jr. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Christina DeSantis (Dwyer), Scott Dwyer, and Allie DeGrouchy, and 2 great grandchildren: Gabriella DeSantis and Dylan DeSantis.
Friends and relatives will be received on Monday, September 25 at 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Donald V. Borgwardt Funeral Home, 4400 Powder Mill Road, Beltsville, MD 20705.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend a funeral service and burial on Tuesday, September 26, at 10:00 a.m. The service will held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 11007 Montgomery Road, Beltsville, MD 20705, and a burial will follow immediately at Gate of Heaven Cemetary, 13801 Georgia Ave., Silver Spring, Maryland 20906.
