Veronica Catherine (Denice) Hughes

Wife of the late James W. Hughes, Jr.; Mother of George V. Hughes and the late James W. Hughes, III; Sister of Joseph R. Denice; Also survived by several nieces, nephew, and cousins; daughter of the late John and Dorothy (Hunt) Denice.

Veronica graduated from High Point High School in the Class of 1970. She worked and retired from UPS in Beltsville, Maryland. Veronica grew up in Beltsville and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Beltsville. Veronica was a member of American Legion Post #136 Greenbelt, Maryland Ladies Auxiliary.

Veronica was proud of her Irish heritage, being a descendent of the Sullivan family. Her great-great grandparents, James and Mary Sullivan of County Limerick, Ireland settled in Washington, DC during the Irish Potato Famine. During the last Sullivan family reunion, Veronica expressed regret that her mom, Dot, daughter of George and Annie Sullivan Hunt, had not lived to enjoy the company of her many relatives.
