Dear Barbara and Family,
This is late, but heartfelt. Your parents Allan and Ann were the wisest and kindest neighbors we have had for 22 years. We missed them when we left College Park and still do. To all who have known them they were a special gift. A mass is said for them at Holy Name Cathedral in Chicago. We are honored to contribute to the scholarship fund.

Barbara, Kathy, and Nancy,
I was in Omaha when you and your families were receiving at the funeral home last week (I was out of town when your dad passed away as well), but my best friend, Bob Z., was able to come by, and i hope he passed along my condolences.
I thought you might like to know that, with the Class of '66's 50-year reunion coming up in mid September, one of the items we are planning to have on offer via a website for purchase by members of our (or any other) class will be a mug bearing your father's likeness. Here is the link for that: http://www.cafepress.com/hp66.1862504020

As the years have passed, the members of our class have had a growing appreciation of how special a place High Point was in the 1960s and how critical to that atmosphere were the efforts of both of your parents. As Student Council president, I had many occasions to interact with your father, and I had your mother as a substitute on several occasions.

I can offer one anecdote that I think reflects the forgiving nature of her interaction with her students, Ray Cook and I were both taking first-year Russian (the first juniors allowed to do so, thanks to your dad), and we, thinking ourselves ever so clever, were passing notes back and forth in Cyrillic (phonetic renderings of English). She came down our aisle just as such a note had been passed, picked it up, read it to herself, and then, very quietly, out loud, with an admonition not to pass notes and not to assume no one else could read Russian.

Please accept my and Sue's deepest sympathy on your loss.

Barbara,
I am so sorry to hear about your mother's passing and wish that I knew the right words to comfort you. I do know that you should take great comfort in knowing that you were the ideal daughter to your mother and father. Few families ever have the love that I saw in your family. The wonderful example of love that your mother set for her children shines brightly in your life as we are all blessed by your mother through you unselfish gifts of compassion, wisdom, and Christian responsibility for one another.
God bless,
Norman Baldwin

May you be touched by the healing power of prayer. Our thoughts and prayers are with you in deepest sympathy. It's faith that lifts us up and love that brings comfort and strength at a time like this. Your parents sponsored our family into this country and my Mom, Ann Leupen, treasured her friendship with your mom. You may remember the stroopwafels my mom made and shared with your family. It's a blessing to know that those we love are united eternally with the Lord.

Our dear DKG sister, Ann will truly be missed. She was an Outstanding Educator who served the students in our county, mentored aspiring teachers and was a spokeswoman for all children to have the right to an excellent education.
Her wise counsel, experiences and advice was a light for so many to follow.
May her family have joy in knowing she will always be remembered especially by her Theta Chapter sisters.

Dear Barbara, Kathy and Nancy,

Your mother was a wonderful and caring neighbor in 6 Court Hillside and beyond. Over the years, I would see both of your parents in church and at various functions. Your mom was always happy and proud to share where each of you girls were and what you were doing. I am now in North Carolina and won't be able to be with you on the 25th, but wish you strength in the knowledge that your mother and father have been reunited once again in eternal salvation with the Lord.

I was so saddened to hear of Ann's passing. She was such a wonderful neighbor, Alan too. It seems so impossible that so many years have passed. My deepest sympathy to the family, my prayers are with you all. She was still very lovely according to her picture.
Did she remain in the Greenbelt area since mass will be at St. Hugh's?

Barbara, I'm so sorry for your loss. This must be a very difficult time. It must at least be a comfort to realize that you did everything possible for your mother in her final years, and I'm sure she appreciated that beyond measure. The scholarship fund is such a wonderful memorial.

Barbara and family:

I am extremely sorry for your loss. I am sure you are comforted by the thought of the reunion between your beloved parents. They were outstanding and accomplished individuals and you showed them extraordinary love, compassion, and care in their final years. The scholarship fund you started in their honor will be a lasting and much needed gift to future generations of students, to whom you, Barbara, devoted your career.
