Alex Belcher

August 17, 1993 — October 8, 2025

Alex Crawford Belcher, born August 17, 1993, and residing in Grasonville, Maryland, passed away on October 8, 2025, and was graciously welcomed into God‘s loving arms. Alex grew up in Springberry Township, York, PA, and graduated in June 2012 from Central York High School. Alex dedicated his life to service and community. He began his journey as a proud member of Station 9 Volunteer Fire Department in Dover, Pennsylvania, followed by brightening the days of patients at York Hospital as a patient transporter and security officer, before continuing his calling to serve others as a Prince George’s County Police Officer. His courage, kindness, and unwavering sense of duty touched the lives of everyone who knew him. During his background investigation, Alex wrote, “I am taking the next big step in my life by strongly wanting to be a part of the Prince George’s County Police Department.” He did just that and became a beloved member of the PGPD family on October 1st, 2018, with Session 139. Alex was known by his squad to be a hard worker and someone that younger officers gravitated toward due to his knowledge, experience, and approachability. Alex was a 7-year veteran of the Prince George’s County Police Department, having served his entire career in District I. Alex showed interest in several areas of the Department, including Homeland Security and the K9 Section. He had multiple accomplishments throughout his career, including several letters of commendation, being named Officer of the Month on several occasions, and he was recently appointed as a Field Training Officer. In 2020, Alex received a Unit Citation for his efforts contributing to the arrest of an armed robbery subject. In 2021, he received a Lifesaving Award for his quick actions and professional judgement. Alex recently discovered a new love for crabbing and will be remembered for his endless jokes, laughter, and smiles. Alex is lovingly remembered by his beloved fiancée, Emily Riser, with whom he spent the last 7 years of his life-- loving endlessly, his dogs Arlo and Echo, and cats, Harley, Nemo, and Milkshake. Alex and Emily were due to be married on May 15, 2026. Alex is also lovingly remembered by his mother and stepfather, Kathleen and Thang Phan; his father, Craig Belcher; his brothers, Adam and Ben Belcher; his half-sister, Grace Phan; his grandparents, Linda and Charlie Poff; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, as well as many extended family members, colleagues, and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fraternal Order of Police, Prince George’s County, Lodge 89 in honor of Police Officer First Class Alex Belcher’s service.
