Devadason Thangiah

August 4, 1945 — June 27, 2025

Devadason Thangiah was born on August 4, 1945, in the village of Mukuperi in Thirunelvelli, Tamil Nadu, India. He was the youngest child of Mr. Thangiah and Mrs. Ponnamal Thangiah. He completed his schooling at Nazareth High School and began a small kadalai muttai (peanut candy) business—an early sign of his resourcefulness and determination.

On December 28, 1973, he married Indra Thangiah, and together they built a life grounded in love, prayer, and quiet strength. The Lord blessed them with three children: Malar, Immanuel, and Thomas. In 1985, with the support of his sister’s family, Devadason immigrated to the United States, driven by a desire to provide a better future for his family. He worked various jobs over the years, with his final role at Farquhar Middle School in Montgomery County.

Devadason was a long-time member of Indians for Christ Church. He also took the time to write and share a testimony about his spiritual journey—a reflection of his heart for ministry and encouragement.

He was a gentle soul—calm, peaceful, and selfless. A man of few words, he never raised his voice, never showed anger, and always carried himself with quiet dignity. Throughout his life, he faced an enormous amount of uncertainty, hardship, and personal sacrifice. And yet, uncertainty never seemed to shake him—it didn’t bother him, because he had spent a lifetime learning how to walk through the unknown with courage, patience, and deep trust in God. He bore his burdens silently, choosing to carry the weight so others wouldn't have to. He shielded others from his inner struggles, not out of pride, but out of love. His strength wasn’t loud—it was steadfast and sacrificial.

He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who protected and prioritized his family above all else. His presence brought comfort, his words brought peace, and his life modeled what it means to live with humility, grace, and unwavering faith.

He leaves behind his beloved wife Indra, his three children and their spouses, five treasured grandchildren, and his loving sister. At the age of 79, Devadason Thangiah was called home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Though he is no longer with us, the legacy of his quiet strength, deep faith, and unwavering love will live on in every life he touched.
