Eileen Gumbs

It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of Mrs. Eileen C. Gumbs, of Blowing Point, Anguilla. She departed this life peacefully on July 3, 2025, in Beltsville, Maryland, at the age of 91.

Eileen was the devoted wife of the late Mr. Hubert Obed Gumbs, better known as “Ebel,” and a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life was a testimony of unwavering strength, quiet faith, and boundless love.

She is survived by her cherished children:

• Paul Webster & wife Sharon Webster

• Dexter Gumbs & wife Rebecca Gumbs 

• Irad Gumbs & family 

• Rhyneta Fleming & husband Romez Fleming 

• Iris Harrigan & family 

• David Gumbs & wife Malaika Gumbs 

She was predeceased by her beloved children Stanley Mathew and Lincoln Webster. 

She also leaves behind: 

• Over 50 grandchildren and great-grandchildren 

• Siblings: • Eunice Edris Fleming (surviving) 

• Oliver Lloyd (deceased) 

• Eveline Webster Thomas (deceased) 

• Rufus Webster (deceased) 

• Ethel Webster (deceased) 

• Marjorie Webster/Mathew (deceased) 

• David Webster (deceased) 

Eileen also leaves behind extended family and friends across Anguilla, St. Maarten, St. Thomas, the USA, and England. 

Special thanks to her loving caregiver Jote Mekdes, who cared for her with deep compassion over the last years of her life. 

Eileen’s warmth, wisdom, and quiet resilience touched the lives of many. She found joy in the simple moments, strength in her faith, and purpose in her family. She was known for her gentle spirit, her dance moves, and her steady hand in raising a beautiful legacy.

A memorial service will also be held in Anguilla at a later date.

The family extends their heartfelt thanks to all who offered prayers, comfort, and support during this time. May her beautiful soul rest in eternal peace. We know she is dancing with the angels in heaven.
