Mildred (Millie) Heinbaugh passed away at her home in Silver Spring, MD, on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at the age of 94.
Beloved wife of Charles E. Heinbaugh, Jr.; loving mother of Carol (Heinbaugh) Dowling (Bob) and Jeffrey A. Heinbaugh (Cathy). Loving grandmother of Kristin (Dowling) Spenser (Ryan), Michael B. Dowling (Sophia), Allison (Heinbaugh) Norfolk (Phil), and Daniel Heinbaugh (Kerri). She is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren.
Millie was born on September 14, 1930, in Hagerstown, MD, to Mildred (Newman) Beck and Albert Beck. She is survived by her sister Mary Ann (Beck) Mundey (Paul) and is pre-deceased by her sister Patricia (Beck) Beard (Rodney). She is also survived by 10 nieces and 4 nephews.
In her teens, Millie was an avid equestrian, competing in many jumping competitions, winning many silver 1st place trophies and bowls.
Millie came to the Washington, DC area when she married Charles in February 1951. They settled in Adelphi, MD in 1956. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, Millie worked as an election judge in Prince Georges County, she belonged to duckpin bowling leagues and was a member of the Adelphi Democratic Club.
In the 1960’s Millie began work at the University of Maryland, College Park, in the bookstore and later in the Accounts Payable Department. She retired from there in July 1994.
Millie and Charles moved to Silver Spring, MD, in March 1980. They lived there until moving to Riderwood Village in March 2016.
A visitation will be held on Monday, July 7, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. in the Riderwood Chapel, 3140 Gracefield Road, Silver Spring, with a with a service time at 11 a.m. and a reception in the Celebrations Room at Riderwood at 11:30 a.m.
