William L. Robertson (Snookie), 91, died on July 20th after complications of an illness. He was a devoted husband to his sweetheart Clara for 65 years until her passing in 2018. He was a wonderful brother, father, grandfather, and was excited to meet his first great-grandchild just two months ago.
After retiring from the Department of the Navy for which he worked 38 years, he enjoyed myriad activities, including: volunteering as a sailing instructor for Annapolis Naval Sailing Association, with American Legion Post 217, Special Olympics Committe, the city of College Park, and as a Boy Scout Leader of troop 408 of College Park. He also enjoyed cruises and traveling with family members, gardening, and many other hobbies.
Survivors include his sister, Linda Dedo (Harold) and sister-in-law Carol Robertson. His children, Patricia Chapin, Michael Robertson (Cindy), and James Robertson. His grandchildren Valarie Robertson (Julia), Lisa Robertson, Julia Craft (William), and Thomas Chapin. He is also survived by his great-grandson Luke Craft, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is predeceased by his parents, William and Ruby, brothers, Lawrence and Michael Robertson, and son-in-law Bill Chapin.
He was always happy and upbeat. On those occasions when things happened beyond his control, he would always say, "It is what it is!"
Burial will be private with a celebration of his life planned at a later date.
