Raised in the corner area of Columbia and Laurel area, currently of Scaggsville, she is a local graduate of Hammond High School, then entered in the US Navy as an Operation Specialist, where she was stationed in Dam Neck, VA; Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean; San Diego, CA and finally Pensacola, FL. Upon being honorably discharged, she began her career in funeral service in Robertsdale, AL in 1997. She moved back home in 1999, where she continued her studies and graduated from Catonsville Community College with a degree in Applied Sciences and became a licensed mortician in 2003. She is well versed in Veterans Benefits and a Licensed Pre-need Director.
Jessica L. Barefoot

Jessy has been with the funeral home since 2007, and a licensed mortician since 2013 through the Pittsburgh Institute of Mortuary Science. Jessy lives with her husband in Frederick County where she was born. She has 3 cats and 2 dogs of her own, but she and her husband foster dogs through local rescue, Operation Paws for Homes. On her days off, she loves to hike and tend her garden. She is looking forward to starting beekeeping. She is also interested in history, ancestry, and learning 3 languages.
Donna K. Borgwardt-Mabry
Donna is the eldest daughter of Don, and has lived most of her life in Beltsville, MD. She is married to her husband Keith of 18 years and is the proud mother of a sophomore at DeMatha Catholic High School in Hyattsville, MD and a stepson who lives on the Eastern Shore. Her hobbies include reading, watching Redskins football and travelling most weekends to her family beach house in Ocean City. She is currently working full time as the office manager of the funeral home and going to school for a certificate in Mortuary Science. She is looking forward to continuing her father’s legacy, serving the families of this community.
William A. Wilson
Bill has been an assistant with us since 2004. He really takes the time to get to know the families we serve. He lives in Anne Arundel County with his wife, where they raised their three children and two dogs. Bill enjoys using vintage woodworking machinery on a variety of projects. He’s always up for cooking a fine meal or taking his motorcycle on a ride through the country.
Joyce grew up in the Washington, DC area. She was a National Figure Skating Champion in singles and dance, and joined an adult synchronized ice skating team (Ice Force One), winning several national events between 2003-2005. She went to Radford College, then University of MD, where she joined Kappa Delta Sorority. She worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center for 18 years. She left GSFC to raise her family. She spends her free time teaching an exercise strength class to seniors, working out at the gym, and tap-dancing.
Dora lives in Laurel and has been married for 43 years. She did accounting for 25 years, and went to cosmetology school at the age of 50. She does hairdressing and hosts visitations. She loves working with our staff and families.
A native of the Finger Lakes region in New York State, Veronica is a graduate of Northeastern University in Boston and is a Registered Yoga Teacher. She moved to Maryland in 2002 and immediately began working in the funeral service. Veronica is an instructor for the Mortuary Science program at the Community College of Baltimore County. She lives in Carroll County with her with her husband, their son, two kitties, a flock of chickens, and thousands of honeybees. Veronica enjoys the simple life; spending time with her family, growing her own food, and getting lost in a good book or movie.
Nicholas “Nick” Collantes
Nick has recently joined the Borgwardt Funeral Home family following the completion of his Mortuary Science degree at the University of the District of Columbia. He is currently an apprentice at the funeral home, as he works toward becoming a fully licensed director. Outside of the funeral home, Nick also coaches youth soccer in the NoVa area. He also has his business management degree from Marymount University. When you come to the funeral home look for the guy with the shiny head and warm smile!
Victor lives in Beltsville and has been married for 10 years. He is originally from a remote village in Tanzania, East Africa where he maintained his family farm tea plantation working as a tree arborist. He loves gardening and landscaping. He enjoys knowing that coworkers and families are comforted by the beauty of the grounds here at the funeral home.
