Stephen R. Caracofe, 72, of Beltsville, MD, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2019.

Steve was born to Lloyd Russell Caracofe, Jr. and Lily (Binns) Caracofe on November 25, 1946 and grew up in Langely Park, MD. He was a proud member of the Blair High School football team and graduated in 1965. He worked for the Army Map Service for a few years and then moved to Hyattsville, MD. He then began his 40+ year career with the United States Postal Service. Steve later settled in Beltsville, MD and married the love of his life, Sandra (Vagnoni) Caracofe. They enjoyed their life together for the next 33 years. 

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sandy; son Jason Caracofe, wife Jessica, granddaughter Phoebe and grandson Ethan; daughter Jennifer Murphy and husband Brian, granddaughter Allena, grandson Colin and granddaughter Caroline; daughter Judith Caracofe; daughter JoAnn Wentz and husband Craig, grandson Chase and granddaughter Josie; and youngest daughter Laura Caracofe.

Steve was known for his great sense of humor and incredible wit. He was an avid reader and had an amazing memory, especially when it concerned funny stories about family and friends and detailed statistics about sports. Steve was a very thoughtful and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who would do anything for those he loved.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family and his many dogs over the years (Pud, Panda, Wookie, Cooper, Ruby, Fager, Margot, Benny and Lola). Although Steve had the opportunity to travel to many places, his favorite place to be was their condo on 81st street in Ocean City, especially when enjoying beautiful sunsets over the bay. Steve and Sandy also shared many special memories of their times at favorite Ocean City and local restaurants with their best friends Frank and Lucy Greenwell.
